Johnson Carpet Cleaning / Carpet cleaning methods
Which carpet cleaning method is best for my carpet?
It depends on the carpet and how dirty it is. Jan uses three methods: dual process, dry foam, and soil extraction. In general, heavy soil and pet urine call for scrubbing and extraction, while a low-moisture method such as dry foam uses less water and dries faster. Tell Jan about your carpet and ask which one fits.
What is dual process cleaning?
Jan works a scrub cleaner and a sanitizer into the carpet first, then uses soil extraction to pull the loosened dirt back out. Two steps instead of one, which is why it suits carpet that has gone a long time between cleanings.
What is dry foam carpet cleaning?
Dry foam is a low-moisture method. A small amount of cleaning solution is whipped into a foam and worked into the fibers, where it loosens dirt so it can be removed. Because so little water goes into the carpet, it dries quickly.
What is soil extraction?
Cleaning solution goes into the carpet and is pulled back out by strong suction, taking the dirt with it. Pulling the water back out, instead of leaving it behind, is what helps the carpet dry and keeps dirt from settling back in.
Which method dries fastest?
Low-moisture methods such as dry foam dry fastest. With any method, airflow matters: Jan sets up two floor fans on his jobs, and his all-electric equipment means no hose through the front door, so your doors stay closed and the AC stays on. See how long carpet takes to dry.
Which method is best for pet urine?
Urine sinks into the backing and pad, so it needs a method that gets solution down to it and pulls it back out. Treatment plus extraction is the usual answer. See pet urine smell in carpet.
Are the cleaning agents safe for kids and pets?
Yes. Jan uses cleaning agents that are safe for kids and pets, and he puts his own hands in them every day. You also pick the sanitizer level: basic, medium, or mold and mildew. A free pre-treater goes on every job.
