How often should you clean carpet?
A common guideline is a professional carpet cleaning every 12 to 18 months. Clean every 6 to 12 months if you have pets, children, smokers or allergies, or if the carpet is light-colored. Vacuum weekly, and busy hallways and entries more often.
How often should carpet be professionally cleaned?
Once a year or so works for most homes. Carpet traps dirt deep in the fibers, where a vacuum cannot reach it, and that dirt grinds at the carpet every time someone walks across it. Regular cleaning keeps carpet looking better for longer.
Do pets and kids change how often?
Yes. Pets bring in dirt, hair and the occasional accident, and children spill. If you have either, clean every 6 to 12 months. Pet urine should be treated as soon as you find it, since it can soak into the pad and the smell returns.
