Johnson Carpet Cleaning / How long carpet takes to dry
How long does carpet take to dry after cleaning?
Carpet usually takes 6 to 12 hours to dry after a professional cleaning. Thick carpet, heavy soil, humid air or poor airflow can stretch that to 24 hours. Fans, moving air and your air conditioning speed it up. Jan sets up two floor fans on his jobs.
How long does carpet take to dry?
Plan on 6 to 12 hours. Carpet that is dry to the touch on top can still be damp underneath, so give it the full time before moving furniture back or wearing shoes on it.
What makes carpet dry slower?
- Thick carpet or a dense pad
- Heavy soil, which needs more cleaning solution and rinsing
- Humid or still air
- Closed rooms with no airflow
- Very low temperatures in the house
How can I make carpet dry faster?
- Run floor fans, pointed across the carpet
- Keep the air conditioning on, since cool, dry air pulls out moisture
- Open interior doors so air moves between rooms
- Leave the thermostat alone so the AC does not shut off
How does Jan help carpet dry quickly?
Jan's equipment is all-electric, so there is no hose through your front door. Doors stay closed, your AC stays in and pets cannot get out. He sets up two floor fans to help the carpet dry faster. The cleaning method matters too: soil extraction pulls water back out of the carpet instead of leaving it behind.
When can I walk on the carpet?
Walk on it in clean, dry socks once it feels dry on top, and skip shoes until it is fully dry. Wait the full drying time before putting furniture back. If you must set furniture down sooner, put foil or plastic blocks under the legs so wood or metal does not stain the carpet.
What if carpet is still damp after 24 hours?
Carpet that is still wet after a day, or that smells musty, needs attention. Run fans, turn the AC down and call Jan at (602) 488-0286. Damp carpet left for days can grow mold and mildew.
